Sylvan Park Workday: Saturday, May 23rd
If you’ve wandered through Sylvan Park lately, you’ve probably started to see the vision taking shape. What once felt tucked away and overgrown is steadily becoming a more connected, accessible space for everyone in the neighborhood to enjoy.
The early trail work laid the foundation, and now we’re in the phase where the real character of the park starts to come through. Each step forward—whether it’s clearing back invasives, defining trail edges, or opening up sightlines—brings us closer to a space that feels both cared for and natural.
This has always been more than a trail project. It’s about restoring balance—keeping this a quiet refuge for birds and wildlife while making it easier for neighbors to experience it. Thoughtful progress means we’re preserving what matters most while making the park more welcoming for all.
We still need your hands
Our neighborhood association has officially “adopted” Sylvan Park through the Parks Department’s program, and the ongoing care and finishing touches are what will make the prak space thrive, which is where the neighborhood comes in.
For this workday, we’ll be spreading mulch and continuing work on the loop trail—two big steps in making the park more usable and sustainable for the long term.
Join us on Saturday, May 23rd from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
We’ll have tools available, but please bring gloves and water to stay comfortable while you work. If you’re able, be sure to sign up here so we know to expect you.
Whether you can stay for an hour or the whole morning, every bit of help makes a difference. We hope to see you out there!
