Current NCNA Initiatives
Green Spaces Initiative: A neighborhood vote chose a revamp of Sylvan Park as our first project. Located at Noll and Franklin, Sylvan Park includes a figure-8 walking path through a wooded parcel owned by the city. We are working with the Parks and Outdoors Department to enhance the trail network, combat invasive species, emphasize native species, introducing "natural play-spaces" like balance-beam logs, along with overall clean-up.
Chattanooga Tree Collective: Local business Hovi Hats is partnering with our Responsible Growth Committee to design hats, proceeds of which will benefit projects around Chattanooga that are both planting and protecting our tree canopy. The hats will include information about the different projects so that we can all get involved!
Social Events: Our social committee is planning quarterly social events, such as the April neighborhood-wide trash pick and potluck and the summer movie night. These events are central to our goal of connecting neighbors.
Road Safety Initiatives: the Road Safety committee has been engaged in supporting neighbors who have specific concerns on their streets, and they are currently working on mapping areas of concern and coming up with ideas for how to encourage the city to address these concerns.
